Themes for the Month!
February — Black Excellence in Biotech (Black History Month Spotlight)
A celebration of Black scientists, inventors, and breakthroughs in medicine and biotechnology—paired with hands-on labs focused on real biotech skills (sterility, measuring, mixing, testing, and interpreting results) with a “future leaders in STEM” vibe.
January — Aseptic Technique & Cell Culture Basics
Students learn how real labs prevent contamination and safely handle “cell culture-style” workflows. This month focuses on clean technique, lab habits, sterile workflow, and the foundations of growing cells (taught through safe, hands-on simulations that build real skill and confidence).
March— Bioengineering Materials
Students dive into the fascinating world of polymer science and materials chemistry by exploring how molecules connect and transform into functional biomaterials with remarkable properties. This hands-on learning experience bridges playful experimentation with cutting-edge biomedical engineering.
April —Purification & Clean Science: Separations That Save Lives
This month highlights how scientists separate and purify a product after it’s made—through interactive labs covering filtration, clarification, separation methods, and clean processing in a way that feels like a real biomanufacturing workflow.
