About Nafees Innovations

Nafees Innovations Academy is a Philadelphia-based STEM education company that turns bioprocessing into fast, hands-on learning for youth and schools. We design labs where students mix, measure, filter, and see real results—so they don’t just watch science; they do science.

Led by experienced industry scientists, our sessions emphasize clarity, safety, and momentum. We handle materials, setup, cleanup, and the “why it matters,” while learners build durable lab habits: safety awareness, aseptic technique, measurement, timing, and simple data interpretation.

What We Do

What Is Bioprocessing?

Bioprocessing is how we use living cells or their parts (like enzymes) to make useful products—medicines and vaccines, enzymes for industry, biofuels, and even everyday fermented foods. In industry it follows a clear pipeline: upstream (grow cells), harvest, downstream purification (separate/clean the product), then formulation & quality checks so it’s safe and effective.

How We Teach It (for Youth)

We turn that pipeline into safe, age-appropriate labs: media prep, yeast “cell” growth, clarification/filtration you can see, a quick assay readout, and simple data capture. Students practice safety + aseptic technique, accurate measuring, lab math, timing, and explaining results—in our Philly lab, at your school, or live virtual (POV cameras).

About Our Founder — Nafees Norris

Nafees Norris is a Philadelphia-based cell culture scientist and biopharmaceutical process engineering professional. He specializes in mammalian cell culture, ambr250 high-throughput bioreactors, and end-to-end bioprocessing—from upstream growth to downstream purification. In industry, he’s built SOPs, trained teams in safety and aseptic technique, and translated complex workflows into clear, repeatable steps that actually work at the bench.

Nafees founded Nafees Innovations to open the lab doors for youth and schools. His sessions are fast, hands-on, and purpose-driven: students measure, mix, filter, and explain their results like real scientists. By pairing industry rigor with approachable teaching, he makes bioprocessing visible, memorable, and achievable—so learners leave knowing what they did and why it matters.
